New Year’s Eve: Statler Ice Ball or Lafayette Royale?

All dressed up with no where to go this New Year’s Eve? The Hotel @ the Lafayette and Statler City will both be hosting events to help ring in the new year.

Last year’s Ice Ball at Statler City brought the first event of its kind to Buffalo. While many complained of the overcrowded venue, this year’s ball has been limited to 1,500, with seating for all those who attend. “We’ve learned a great deal from the logistics of last year,” says Statler City President Mark D. Croce. “I don’t want a repeat of anything that went awry last year. We really limited capacity this year to ensure a most memorable experience for all.”
Those who attend will receive five hours of premium open bar, a three and a half hour buffet, followed by a late night food and coffee station. Also included is a champagne toast at midnight and music and entertainment in each of the six rooms:

•Golden Ballroom & Golden Balcony: JJ Swing
•Terrace Room: Jeremy Hoyle & Strictly Hip
•Crystal Room (Mezzanine Level): DJ Vixxen, Dance Disc-Jockey
•Georgian Ballroom: Nick Battistella, singing Sinatra and more
•Oriental Room: Steve Balesteri, Local Krooner
•Rendezvous the Niteclub @ Statler City: Buffalo’s own DJ Heat

In addition to this, there will be free parking in the Turner Ramp, a free coat check and party favors. There will be nine bars set up throughout the Statler, with premium open bar running from 8pm to 1am.
The event begins at 6pm. Tickets are $200 per guest, inclusive of all service charges and sales tax.

Think this event is a bit pricey for you? Consider the Hotel @ the Lafayette, who will be hosting a New Year’s Eve bash of their own – 007 style.
The James Bond-themed party will feature a casino throughout the main floor.

• Lobby Bar – gaming tables (black lack and roulette)
• Auto Club Room – craps, Let it Ride, Caribbean Stud
• Mike A’s Retro Bar – Texas Hold ‘Em
• Peacock Alley – skill stop slot machines

Live entertainment will also be spread throughout the venue, including:
•Grand Ballroom – members of the Buffalo Niagara Concert Band
•Pan Am Bar & Grill – DJ Cutler, Dan Harper, and the Magic Show
•Crystal Ballroom – The Valkyries

Buffalo’s very own Bond Girl, Dianna Casale, will help count down to the New Year. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best Bond get-up. The event runs from 8am-2pm and is $40 for general admission, $100 for VIP.

Nothing like a little friendly competition between two of Buffalo’s greatest historical icons. Both are taking advantage of recently renovated venues that have brought back the historical elegance of the early 20th century – and rightfully so.

To help ring in your New Year, which will it be? The Hotel @ the Lafayette or Statler City?
